Starting pitcher Sara Lin shutout the Lady 'Cats for the first six innings, and provided both RBI's for Gallatin, in a 2-run bottom of the 2nd inning. Milan would out-hit Gallatin 9-6 by the end of the night, but the visitors only managed a single run in the top of the 7th, when two could have potentially sent the game to extra innings. Jocelyn Miller provided Milan's RBI in the final inning. Leading hitters in the contest were Milan's Sam DeRyke with a pair of hits, matched by two hits from Gallatin's Bailey Maxwell. Kenna Michael was the tough-luck loser for Milan, despite a complete-game six-hit effort

Milan is 0-2 on the young season, but against tough competition, the Lady 'Cats have proven to be a much-improved squad. Gallatin, with the win, is now 1-1. The Lady Bulldogs next game is Tuesday night at 5:30, at defending state champion Maysville. Milan will look for its first win of 2014, hosting Schuyler County on Thursday, September 4th at 5:00. The game, from the American Legion Field in Milan, will not be a Tri-Rivers Conference game. The two rivals meet in their conference contest on September 29th in Queen City.

Trenton was to host Carrollton last night, but the game was postponed due to wet field conditions. According to Carrollton athletic officials, the possibility of moving the game to CHS was explored, but umpires could not be found. Both schools indicate an interest in rescheduling the varsity/JV doubleheader, but a date has not yet been announced
