Sports : Chillicothe Hornets Have Dominant Tennis, Golf Performances

Hosting the nearby rival Trenton Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon, the Chillicothe Lady Hornet tennis and golf teams claimed victories. The tennis win was head-to-head against THS, while Putnam County and Trenton played Chillicothe in a golf triangular.

Chillicothe won all nine varsity matches against Trenton, with six of the matches coming in a 9-0 sweep. The two schools did play six JV doubles matches against one another, with Trenton winning three and Chillicothe three.

In triangular golf at the Green Hills Golf Course, Chillicothe claimed the victory, shooting a 201, with Putnam County at 209, and Trenton in third with 226.

It was a quick turnaround for the Lady Bulldogs, who are spending their Thursday at the Lafayette Tournament in St. Joseph. On Wednesday afternoon in Chillicothe, Karley McCollum had Trenton's top score, at 52, with Caitlin McNabb at 57, Lana Raymo 58, Lauren Schmidt 59, and Jordain Oshel at 62. For the Trenton JV, Kaitlyn Mounce shot 65.

Chillicothe's Hannah Leamer was medalist with a round of 46, while other scores for CHS were Grace Venner at 49, Kaylee Thieme with 51, Morgan Dowell at 55, and Lauren Mason at 57.

Putnam County's scores were Sydney O'Reilly (second overall) at 48, Riley Hendee with a 51, Kyle Blanchard at 52, Alisyn Hamilton with 58, and Kallie DeVore, who shot a 64.

Chillicothe next plays in St. Joseph on Tuesday, joining Benton, Lafayette, and Cameron in an MEC quadrangular.
