New Missouri basketball coach Kim Anderson has one of his goals completed for his first recruiting class, a commitment from within the state borders.

Kevin Puryear is a 6-foot-7, 225 pound senior combo forward from Blue Springs South High School, a three-star prospect that averaged 19.2 pounds and 8.6 rebounds in his junior season.

He gave his verbal commitment to the home-state Tigers late last week, passing on offers from Nebraska, Ole Miss, Creighton, Oklahoma State, and others.

If he signs with Mizzou, Puryear would be the first in-state high school player to come to Columbia since Ryan Rosburg in 2011.

His commitment gave the Tiger program some good news on a week that had already seen Columbia Rock Bridge senior Jimmy Whitt give a verbal commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday.
