Grundy County Commissioners today adopted a tax levy of about 18 and a half cents (.1845) on the 100 dollars of assessed valuation.
That's just a slight increase from the previously published rate. (of .1817) The change by a mere three hundreths of a cent is due to a re-calculation of county sales tax revenue.
The tax rate ceiling for Grundy county is nearly 39 cents (.3879). There's a sales tax rollback of 20 cents (.2034) resulting in the net levy of about 18 and a half cents per 100 dollars. Last year's levy was 21 cents on the 100 dollars. Grundy county's assessed valuation for this year is an estimated 120 million dollars from real estate, personal property, railroad, and utilities.
Grundy County will be seeking bids for replacement of hail damaged roofs at the Courthouse and the former county jail, now the office for the prosecuting attorney.
A mandatory pre-bid inspection at the two locations is scheduled September 9th at 1 o'clock. Insurance money will pay for roof replacement work due to storm damage.
Bids on the Courthouse project will also include masonry work on the building. Persons with questions may contact the Grundy County Clerk's office.
Commissioners plan to host the Trenton area chamber of commerce after-hours event a week from now. The 5 o'clock gathering will be at the Grundy County Courthouse on August 26th.
