Assessed valuation in the Pleasant View district is nearly $8.5 million . That's up about
$98,000 compared to last year.

Nearly $1 million of the assessed valuation in the Pleasant View district involves commercial property for Wright Memorial Physicians Group. The school district notes Wright Memorial is protesting the assessment to the State Tax Commission. The Pleasant View Board discussed the loss of more than $40,000 in tax revenue because of the protest---then approved the district's tax rate of just over $4.31 on the $100.

Classes begin next Wednesday in the Pleasant View district. There's an open house for Janet Lake's pre-school students through 8th graders and their families Monday night at 6 o'clock. Students will receive district paperwork, meet their classroom teachers, put school supplies away, and receive a barbecue served by Board of Education members.

The Keys preschool classrooms will have an open house for students and their families next Wednesday.
