Rachel Peery Holt of Hamilton, reports she advanced to the semi final competition for a talent contest held during the Missouri State Fair.
She will next perform at the 4 o'clock semi finals this afternoon. She sang two songs in the preliminaries held on Tuesday afternoon.
Preliminary rounds were conducted on the first six days of the state fair.
The semi finals are held over a period of four days, yesterday through Saturday.
The finals are Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. All competition is held inside the Budweiser tent at the fairgrounds in Sedalia.
The event is called â€śState Fair Idol.â€ť Officials with the state fair say the contest has no affiliation or relationship with the television show â€śAmerican Idolâ€ť which is a registered trademark.
Rachel Holt is a daughter of former PAR Broadcasting Owner and employee Tim Peery; now of Kansas City. She's also a daughter of Glennie Peery of Breckenridge.
First place on Sunday wins 500 dollars, a trophy, and the opportunity to sing one song as an opening act in one of the Pepsi Grandstand concerts next year at the state fair.
Second place wins 250 dollars. This is the ninth year for the Missouri State Fair idol contest.
