Fires : Chillicothe Fire Department Responds To Rural Blaze

Fire and smoke caused some damage early last evening to a rural home on Livingston County road 237.

The Chillicothe Fire Department was called to 77-93 L-I-V 237 where the property is owned by the Joe and Emellen Miller Trust in care of Trustee Jim Miller of Galt.

The report from the Chillicothe Fire department said when it arrived, fire was showing in the kitchen area. The occupant of the house stated that she had started the dishwasher, and went outside to burn the trash. When she returned inside, smoke was coming from behind the dishwasher. 9-1-1 was called.

While talking to a dispatcher, the occupant then saw flames coming up the wall.

No injuries reported. The report indicated extensive fire damage to kitchen withthe fire extending to the walls and to the wall area on the second story. Smoke damage was listed for the rest of the house, with some water damage also.

The Chillicothe fire department report says damage to the structure and contents is estimated at 45-thousand dollars. Cause of the fire is listed by the fire department as electrical in nature.

Chillicothe firefighters were at the scene for an hour and half last evening.
