Five entries, possibly a sixth, are expected to perform tonight at the Country Showdown during the North Central Missouri Fair in Trenton.
The talent show begins at 7:30 this evening in the courtyard of the fairgrounds, free of charge. Persons attending are to take their lawn chairs.
Organized by the PAR Broadcast Group, KTTN / KGOZ Radio, a spokesman expects quality competition as three of the five entries have won Country Showdown contests in prior years – two of them at the Trenton show.
One of the previous country showdown winners at Trenton is a “band of brothers” from Kansas City—now calling themselves “State Line Drive.” Another previous winner of the local showdown, Tyler Greenwood of Trenton, also is scheduled to perform. A first time contestant at the Trenton contest will be Paul Moreland of Fulton. He was the country showdown winner one year ago in competition at Moberly.
Two other entries are from Trenton: Robert Wimer as well as Mark and Levi Silkwood.
Another possible singer this evening is pending her recovery from an illness this week.
The winner of tonights' Country Showdown advances to the state competition held in Maryville this October. Contestants pay a 20 dollar entry fee which is payable to the national promotions company coordinating the Country Showdowns.
