There are scheduled to be 7 students in the 2nd grade and 3 in 1st grade. Brooke Chapman, who was the 1st grade teacher last school year at Laredo, will teach both 1st and 2nd grades in the upcoming academic year.

Teacher, Michelle Lynch, has been moved from 2nd grade to 3rd and 4th grade. Ms. Lynch fills a vacancy created when Cassy Carpenter resigned to take a position at Brookfield. The Laredo board had accepted Ms. Carpenter's resignation during a meeting on June 30th.

Laredo school Administrator, Phil Fox, explained the Board was faced with whether to find another teacher this close to the start of school or combine grades which had a decline in enrollment. He noted Laredo had a combined 1st and 2nd grade position about 5 years ago, but the grades were separated because of larger numbers of students. Now, with fewer students, 1st and 2nd grades are being combined again.

Classes begin August 20th at Laredo.

A School Board and Staff picnic is the night of August 22nd at 6 o'clock at Larry and Mona Loyd's lake.

The Laredo Board of Education holds a property tax rate hearing the night of August 11th at 6 o'clock it will be followed by the regular board of education meeting at 6:30.
