The Pleasant View R-VI Board of Education last evening conducted the 1st reading of several policy updates recommended by MSBA and approved Tiffany Otto as the English language learner, Migrant and Homeless coordinator for the district.

The Special Education Model Compliance Plan and the student handbook were approved.

A fund transfer was approved and the 2013-14 budget was amended to match actual revenues and expenditures for the school year. The 2014-15 budget was approved with revenues anticipated at more than $1,372,000 ($1,372,610) and expenditures topping $1,404,000 ($1,404,255)-- a deficit of an estimated $32,000.

Summer maintenance projects were discussed and included possible repairs to the roof due to storm damage, window replacement in the kitchen, and new carpet in the preschool classrooms. The E-rate discount has been approved at a 70% discount for internet and telephone services for the upcoming fiscal year.

Mrs. Otto updated the Board on Negotiations regarding the disputed assessed valuation of the Wright Memorial Physicians Group building that is awaiting resolution by the State Tax Commission.

Teachers and other staff adopted a Handwriting without Tears program that will include training on September 6th in conjunction with Grundy R-5
School District.

During a closed session for personnel and students, staffing was discussed and non-resident student enrollment applications were approved.
