Accidents : Monday Morning Accident Claims Polo Man's Life

A two-vehicle accident on Monday morning claimed the life of one person, who was throwing out of his car. The other driver was injured. The accident occurred on Highway 13, in Lafayette County.

The Highway Patrol identified the victim as 22-year old Dalton Rardon of Polo. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver involved, 33-year old Katie Reagen of Corder, received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lafayette Regional Hospital.

The crash occurred when Rardon's car crossed the center line of Highway 13 and was struck by the on-coming vehicle. After impact, the car traveled off the highway, ejecting Rardon. The vehicle driven by Ms. Reagen also went off the road and caught fire.

Both vehicles were demolished in the accident at 8:15 AM Monday. The Patrol said Rardon was not wearing a seat belt, while Ms .Reagen was using a safety device.
