News : Angry Dad Runs Down Daughter's Fiance In Truck

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOCO/CNN) – Police arrested a man they say ran over his daughter's fiance in the parking lot of a gas station.

"The only thing I was worried about was getting the hell out of that truck," victim Christian Leatherwood said.

Bruised and bloody, Leatherwood still can't believe what happened Monday night.

"He started yelling at us in the parking lot and stuff," Leatherwood said.

Leatherwood said James Littrell spotted him at the gas station, stopped and confronted him. Littrell had just found out about his daughter's engagement and was anything but approving.

"[He] told us to stay the hell away from his daughter and he was going to do what he wanted," witness Victory Nelson said.

Leatherwood and Nelson, his friend, went to call his uncle, who is a police officer, to report Littrell's rant. Littrell then jumped behind the wheel of his truck.

"[He] ran into his truck, put the keys in, threw it in reverse and hit me," Leatherwood said. "I ended up on top of the tailgate because I didn't want my legs broken."

Nelson was also holding on, but he jumped off as the truck was moving.

"It was very scary, I didn't know what to think," Nelson said.

"He slammed onto the brakes, flew into the back of the truck and he sped out of the corner store," Leatherwood said.

Then, Littrell stopped the truck at a red light.

"I was trying to climb out while it was still red [and] he slammed on the gas and I flew out of the vehicle," Leatherwood said.

Leatherwood rolled along the road, scraping his shoulder, side and face.

Not long after Littrell sped away, police caught up and arrested him.

Littrell is charged with assault with a deadly weapon. CNN affiliate KOCO reached out to Littrell, but he did not return the calls for comment.
