News : “Pershing’s Last Patriot” To Be Shown In LaClede

The public will have the opportunity to view the documentary film, “Pershing’s Last Patriot” at General John J. Pershing State Historic Site on Monday, May 26.

The film is the story of the life of the last American Doughboy Frank W. Buckles from Bethany, Missouri. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the showing is a part of the annual Memorial Day program at the site.

The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the statue of General Pershing and will include featured speaker David DeJonge, the writer and director of the film. At 2:30 p.m., the film will be shown at 905 Ausmus St. Following the viewing, DeJonge will answer questions from the audience.

Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site is located at 1100 Pershing Drive in Laclede. For more information on the event, call the site at 660-963-2525.
