Sports : NCMC Rival Hires Peru State's Troy Katen

Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri has announced the hiring of Troy Katen to be the school's Assistant Athletic Director and Head Women's Basketball Coach.

Katen will also be the baseball coach at WMA. He has 16 years of collegiate coaching experience, including the last six as the men's basketball coach at Peru State University in Peru, Nebraska. Katen was an assistant at Hastings College (Hastings, Nebraska) from 2001 to 2006. He received his Master's Degree in teaching from Hastings in 2004, and began his coaching career at Dakota Wesleyan University as an assistant from 1998 to 2001. He will officially begin his new duties at Wentworth on June 1st. Troy and his wife Stacy have two children, 12-year old Brooke and nine year-old Blake.

In 2013-2014, Wentworth Military Academy went 11-13, finishing fourth in the five-team Region 16 standings. After a first-round win over Penn Valley (95-82 on February 25th), the Red Dragons lost in the region semifinals to North Central Missouri College, 93-84 on March 1st in Sedalia. Wentworth lost all three of its match-ups with NCMC last season.
