That makes Superintendent Dan Owens' compensation nearly 78-thousand dollars and kindergarten through 12th grade Principal Kim Palmer's salary nearly 63-thousand dollars. The North Mercer Board, in March, approved increased compensation for teachers that also averaged one and one half percent.

The North Mercer Board approved the employment of Latisha Werteen of Princeton as a sixth grade teacher. She'll be a first year teacher with a degree from Graceland University of Lamoni.

A half-time guidance counselor at Mercer, Lauren Gilkey, will have full-time counselor duties next school year. The district had two half-time counselors this year.

The North Mercer District currently is seeking a full-time custodian, a cook, and a salad bar attendant for the upcoming school year.

The North Mercer Board approved budget amendments for the current fiscal year showing an increase in revenue of nearly 120-thousand dollars and an increase in spending of 107-thousand dollars. That reduces the budgeted deficit for this fiscal year to around 71-thousand dollars. The budget includes an expenditure of 275-thousand dollars for the construction of an agriculture building. The current budget has anticipated spending at slightly over three-point-one million dollars.

Two North Mercer students will be attending the National Future Business Leaders of America competition at Nashville, Tennessee in June. The Board of Education has approved the expenses and trip for Seniors Levi Houk in Word Processing and Kesha Freeman in Spread Sheet Application.

Millemon math award winners will be paid about 18 dollars.

The June meeting of the North Mercer Board of Education is the night of June 11th at 6 o'clock. That's two nights later than usual.
