News : Gallatin Resident Injured In Accident Near Plattsburg

A Gallatin resident was hurt when a car hit a farm tractor that was attempting a left turn north of Plattsburg on Route Y Saturday.

26 year old Amanda Eaton of Gallatin was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center at St. Joseph with what the highway patrol called moderate injuries.

Ms. Eaton was a passenger in the car driven by 26 year old Justin Gillette of Gallatin. He was not reported hurt.

The operator of the tractor, 22 year old Blake Stephens of Plattsburg, also was not reported hurt.

The accident occured shortly before sunset Saturday, 1 mile north of Plattsburg on Route Y. The tractor and car were both northbound when the operator of the tractor attempting a left turn into a private driveway. The patrol said,when the driver of the car attempted to overtake the tractor, the car hit the front of the tractor. The car then hit a mailbox on the left side of the road, spun 180 degrees, and went off the other side of the road into a ditch.

The tractor came to a controlled stop in a driveway.

The car was demolished. The tractor had minor damage.
