News : Circuit Court At Trenton Has Heavy Case Load

The latest session of Division 1 of Grundy County Circuit court heard a myriad of cases.

24 year old William Gott of Trenton admitted violating his probation. The probation was revoked and Gott must serve a 6 year prison sentence that previously had been stayed. Gott was on probation on charges of tampering with a vehicle and property damage.

19 year old Dakota Dalton of Humphreys pleaded guilty to 2nd degree burglary and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Judge Jack Peace retains jurisdiction for 120 days. Dalton is to be placed in shock incarceration. He's accused of unlawfully remaining in a structure at Galt owned by Karen Willis for the purpose of stealing.

47 year old Arthur Neff of rural Trenton was sentenced to 5 years in prison on a charge of possessing methamphetamine. Neff was given 38 days in jail, with credit for time served, on a charge of resisting lawful detention by fleeing from an officer. He pleaded guilty to both charges, which authorities said were in February of last year.

47 year old David Newsom of Chillicothe admitted violating his probation. The probation was revoked, a stay of execution was set aside, and Newsom must serve a
4 year prison sentence. He already had been in prison. Newsom was on probation in Grundy County on a stealing charge from December of 2011.

21 year old Tyler Wilson of Trenton pleaded guilty to the amended charge of 2nd degree burglary. Judge Peace put Wilson on probation for 5 years. He's required to spend 60 days of shock time in the Grundy County Detention Center at Wilson's expense. The charge was reduced from 1st degree burglary to 2nd degree burglary. Authorities said it was in February at a rural Trenton address owned by Curtis Holland.

Wilson also admitted violating his probation. Execution of a 12 year prison sentence was suspended, and Wilson was put back on probation for 5 years. He's required to obtain employment within 30 days. He's been on probation on burglary and stealing charges.

30 year old Stephanie Rodriguez of Chillicothe was put on 5 years probation after imposition of a sentence was suspended. Ms. Rodriguez received 60 days of shock time in custody, with credit given for time served. She's required to
Make $5,500 restitution as joint or severed responsibility. If she violates her probation, Judge Peace has the option of imposing the maximum sentence consecutive to Livingston and Caldwell County cases.

Ms. Rodriguez was accused of conspiracy to commit burglaries at the properties of Delbert and Martha Jackson of rural Galt and Josh and Jill Eaton of rural Trenton.
Ms. Rodriguez also was accused of receiving stolen handguns, jewelry, and cameras owned by the Jacksons and Eatons. Authorities said the incidents were last September.

19 year old Casey Welch of Galt was put on probation for 5 years after imposition of a sentence was suspended on a charge accusing him with receiving stolen property.
Welch is required to make restitution. If he disputes the restitution amount, a hearing may be requested. Welch pleaded guilty in February to receiving a handgun in January
knowing or believing it to be stolen.

Welch also pleaded guilty in February to misdemeanor possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of a drug paraphernalia pipe with intent to use it in January. He was sentenced this week on those charges to 27 days in the Grundy County Detention Center at his cost, and given credit for time served.

Welch was sentenced to 2 days in jail on a charge accusing him with failure to display valid plates on a motor vehicle/trailer in January. He was given credit for time served, at his expense. Welch pleaded guilty to the charge last month.

45 year old Donna Zeigler of Independence pleaded guilty to stealing and fraudulent use of a debit device. Execution of a 5 year prison sentence was stayed and Ms. Zeigler was put on probation for 5 years. She's required to make $246 restitution within 90 days.

Ms. Zeigler was accused of stealing a debit card owned by Patricia Latham in January, and using the card to make several purchases.

37 year old Jacky Kennedy of Trenton was put on 5 years probation. That came after execution of a sentence was suspended on charges accusing him with attempted manufacture of a controlled substance by having materials necessary to produce methamphetamine, and possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to use it to introduce meth into the body---both in January. Kennedy received 8 years on the attempting to manufacture charge and 4 years on the drug paraphernalia count before execution of the sentence was suspended and he was put on probation. Kennedy also was given 19 days shock time in custody, with credit for time served. He's to have no contact with Stephanie Miller, pay $300 restitution to a Law Enforcement Fund, attend drug-related meetings, and perform 20 hours of community service work a week unless he's
employed full-time.

48 year old John Moots of Trenton pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamines in February. Imposition of a sentence was suspended and Moots was put on probation for 5 years. He's required to obtain an alcohol and drug evaluation and follow all recommendations.

A charge accusing Moots with receiving a bank card in February knowing or believing it to be stolen was dismissed by Special Prosecutor Tara Walker.

34 year old Nathan Vandevender of Trenton was put on 5 years probation after imposition of a sentence was suspended on a charge accusing him with possessing the controlled substance Ambien last December. Vandevender pleaded guilty to the charge in February.

30 year old Marc Gardner of Trenton pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to introduce meth into the human body, and tampering with physical evidence by flushing a controlled substance down a toilet to impair an investigation by Trenton Police---all in February. The charges say Gardner is a persistent offender by pleading guilty in 2005 to 1st degree property damage, and pleading guilty in 2006 to burglary---both in Grundy County.

35 year old Sasha Thomas-Williams, with addresses at Princeton and Trenton, pleaded guilty to 1st degree endangering the welfare of a child. Sentencing is May 15th. A charge accusing Sasha Thomas-Williams with possessing methamphetamine was dismissed by Special Prosecutor Tara Walker.

35 year old Heather Marshall of Trenton admitted violating her probation. The probation was continued with additional conditions. Judge Peace requested Ms. Marshall be placed in a court ordered detention sanction program . He retains jurisdiction for 120 days.

19 year old Collin Ferguson of Trenton admitted violating his probation. The probation was continued with the added condition that Ferguson complete a court ordered detention sanction program. Judge Peace retains jurisdiction for 120 days.
