University of Missouri men's basketball coach Frank Haith is expected to be named the new head coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Friday afternoon. A press conference in Tulsa to announce the new coach is scheduled for 1 o'clock.
Haith left Columbia Regional Airport on Thursday afternoon, bound for a face-to-face interview with Tulsa athletic officials, amid a flurry of reports indicating that an agreement was already in place for Haith to become the new head coach of the Golden Hurricane.
If hired at Tulsa, Haith would replace Danny Manning, the former Kansas star who was hired as head coach at Wake Forest University on April 4th.
Meanwhile, in Columbia, Missouri Athletic Director Mike Alden has scheduled a press conference at 11 o'clock this morning, presumably to discuss the coaching situation with the Tigers.
Haith has an impressive record of 76-28, but has been dealing with an increasingly impatient Tigers fan base that notes the program's dip in success since Haith's first season, a 30 win campaign three years ago. In 2013-2014, Haith's Tigers missed the NCAA Tournament and finished tied for sixth in the Southeastern Conference.
