Caenepeel struck out 10 Monarchs, and allowed only one earned run on four hits over seven innings. He walked only one batter. The Pirates never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a groundout by Lucas. The Pirates added two more runs in the top of the fifth. A double by Cezan Rafaela ignited the offense, scoring James Brownsberger. A solo home run by Hill (sixth inning) accounted for the only Monarch run.

In game two, Rafaela was 4-for-5 at the plate, but the Pirates fell to Maple Woods by a final score of 14-7. Rafaela had hits in the first, third, fifth, and seventh innings, driving in three runs in the process.

The two teams were scheduled to play on Monday afternoon at NCMC's Burleigh Grimes Field. Results have been yet been announced by the schools. North Central left Maple Woods with a season record of 12-17.
