Accidents : 10 Injured In Accident 1/4 Mile West Of Jamesport

Ten people were injured in an accident Friday afternoon when a van struck a Freightliner tractor trailer one quarter mile west of Jamesport at the intersection of Highway 6 and Route NN.

The accident occurred at 2:50 Friday afternoon when a 2003 Chevrolet van driven by Wanda Harris of Casstown, Ohio, driving South, failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 6 and Route NN. The Harris vehicle entered the intersection striking the passenger side the West bound 2014 Freightliner Tractor Trailer driven by Juan Castro-Garcia of Kansas City, Kansas.

The van, driven by Harris, spun clockwise following the impact, with the rear of the vehicle then striking the trailer of the Freightliner tractor trailer. The 2003 Chevrolet van then left the North side of Highway 6.

The 2014 Freightliner tractor trailer jackknifed, going off the South side of Highway 6, partly blocking the westbound turn lane from Highway 6 on to Highway F.

Two occupants of the van, Rafael Harris, infant son of Wanda Harris, driver of the van, and, Rochelle Hertzler of Gallatin were ejected from the vehicle.

Lifeflight helicopters were dispatched along with ambulances from Trenton, Cameron, Gallatin and Kansas City.

Eight year old, Annika Harris, was taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center with minor injuries..

Six year old Heidi Harris was taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Fourteen year old Johana Harris was taken by ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

Thirteen year old Katrina Harris was taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the van, forty one year old Wanda Harris was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by ambulance with minor injuries.

The infant son of Wanda Harris, Rafael Harris, who was ejected from the vehicle was life flighted to Childrens Mercy Hospital in Kansas City with serious injuries.

Mrs. Harris, the driver of the van, as well as the children are listed as from Casstown, Ohio.

Twenty five year old Rochelle Hertzler of Gallatin was life flighted to Truman Medical Center with serious injuries.

Twenty Three year old Pamela Stahl, of Gallatin was life flighted to KU Medical Center with serious injuries.

Fifty seven year old Sarah Wurtz, also of Gallatin was transported to Wright Memorial Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

All three Gallatin residents were occupants of the van.

The driver of the tractor trailer, forty five year old Juan Castro-Garcia was transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center by ambulance with Minor injuries.

Those listed as wearing safety devices were Annika, Heidi, Johana and Wanda Harris, the driver of the van, and, Sarah Wurtz of Gallatin. The driver of the tractor trailer truck was also listed as wearing a safety device.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, as well as the Jamesport and Gallatin Fire Departments.
