Sports : NCMC Freshman Named National Player Of The Week

North Central Missouri College freshman third baseman Hailey Lowery has been named the Division One Player of the Week by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Lowery, a native of Kansas City, led a blistering North Central offense during a current five-game winning streak, hitting .615 with 3 home runs, 15 RBI's, eight base-on-balls, and seven runs scored.

Lady Pirate Head Coach Megan Cairns announced on Thursday that due to recent heavy rainfall across the St. Louis metropolitan area, NCMC's game scheduled for Friday at St. Charles Community College have been moved to Sunday. The Lady Pirates are still scheduled to play at Jefferson College on Saturday. The games at St. Charles start at 2 o'clock. The games at Jefferson start at noon.

The North Central Missouri College baseball team had its scheduled doubleheader (Thursday) with Maple Woods postponed due to wet field conditions. The game is expected to be made up on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Pirates travel to Kansas City to play AT Maple Woods this Saturday (1 o'clock).

The Pirates are coming off of a decisive doubleheader sweep of the Wentworth Red Dragons on Tuesday afternoon in Lexington. The first game was 16-2, with the ontest decided quickly as the Pirates exerted their will early with 10 runs in the first three innings. A two-run triple by Cezan Rafaela, an RBI single by Jason Luster, an RBI single by Tyler White, and a groundout by Michael Babbitt during the first inning and a two-run home run by Jason in the second inning fueled the North Central Missouri College Pirates' offense early. Luster racked up three RBIs on three hits.

In game two, Joan Rondon went 2-4 as the North Central Missouri College Pirates took home a 4-1 win, with Rondon singling in the fourth and fifth innings. Wentworth couldn't get anything going as long as Tyler White was on the rubber. WMA managed just one hit off of White, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his 3 2/3 innings of work.
