The Missouri Highway Patrol says the bus rolled into a ditch along a two-lane road Tuesday afternoon near Ewing, which is about 125 miles northwest of St. Louis. No other vehicles were involved.

The patrol says 18 students suffered minor injuries and five were more seriously hurt.

Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish says the driver and most of the students were treated and released from hospitals Tuesday. He says "a few" students remain hospitalized but that none of their injuries appear to be life-threatening.

The sheriff says all students have been accounted for.

The injured students attend Highland Elementary and Highland High schools. The school district declined immediate comment.
