In the tampering with physical evidence charge, Gardner is accused of concealing syringes containing residue of a controlled substance and flushing controlled substances down a toilet to impair a Trenton Police Department investigation.

The charges describe Gardner as a prior and persistent offender by pleading guilty in 2005 to 1st degree property damage and pleading guilty in 2006 to burglary---both in Grundy County.

35 year old Carrie McClain of Trenton also faces those same charges of possessing methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with physical evidence on February 16th. The charges also say Ms. McClain is a prior and persistent offender by pleading guilty in 2006 to distribution of a controlled substance and pleading guilty in 2008 to possession of a controlled substance---both in Grundy County.

A preliminary hearing was held on those charges in Grundy County Associate Circuit Court. Ms. McClain was bound over to Division 1 of Circuit Court on the charges accusing her with possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. Judge Steve Hudson has taken under advisement, for 10 days, the charge accusing Ms. McClain with possessing methamphetamines. The advisement period allows attorneys to provide more information.
