Hurley walked just one batter, and struck out one, in the complete game effort. North Central center fielder Alexa Blackwell was 3-for-4 with an RBI, with shortstop Jennifer Stock going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Christine McCoy scored the other North Central run. Hurley added two hits in four at-bats in the winning effort. The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Lady Pirates, who are now 6-11 on the season.

North Central lost Sunday afternoon's opener at Rose State, 9-6. A five-run sixth inning rally by Rose State was devastating for North Central, as it turned a 5-4 Lady Pirate advantage into a 9-5 deficit. The Lady Pirate managed just one run in a comeback attempt in the seventh inning.

The Lady Pirates, down 2-0 heading into the fourth inning, saw their bats come alive in the middle frames, with three runs in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth inning. Hailey Lowery had three hits and two RBI's in the contest. McCoy had three hits, and Macie Kinsey three hits and three RBI's.

Earlier in the week, NCMC struggled in doubleheaders at KCK (Kansas City Kansas) Community College at Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College. On Wednesday afternoon, NCMC lost 4-1 and 7-6 at KCK. On Thursday, the Lady Pirates were beaten 8-0 and 6-3 by the Red Ravens of Coffeyville.

Head Coach Megan Cairns has announced that due to Tuesday's low temperatures and high winds, the scheduled doubleheader at Johnson Field against Maple Woods has been moved to WEDNESDAY. The start times of 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock will remain unchanged. The Lady Pirates will travel to Highland (Kansas) Community College on Thursday (2 and 4), and host Jefferson and St. Charles this Friday and Saturday, with game times for both doubleheaders at 2 and 4 o'clock.

The NCMC baseball team struggled in a four-game weekend series against Jefferson College, suffering the clean sweep.

On Saturday, North Central took 8-2 and 16-6 losses to JeffCo, with Sunday's final scores reading 11-1 and 12-0. Saturday's games were played in Hillsboro, with Sunday's contests at Burleigh Grimes Field in Trenton.

The Pirate baseball team will host Hannibal-LaGrange on Thursday at 1 o'clock, and host Three Rivers in a four-game weekend series, with action starting at 1 o'clock Saturday and 12 noon Sunday from Burleigh Grimes Field.
