Accidents : Fatal Accident At Highway 65 And 28th Street In Trenton

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a Trenton man lost his life this morning in a traffic accident at the intersection of Highway 65 and 28th street in Trenton.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:00 am.Tuesday morning, as 52 year old Timothy V. Deeds of Galt was traveling northbound on Highway 65 in a 2007 model 357 Peterbuilt single unit truck. 46 year old Randall D. Phillips of Trenton was eastbound on 28th street, driving a 1994 GMC Sonoma, when he pulled into the path of the truck driven by Deeds.

The Peterbilt truck struck the passenger side of the vehicle driven by Phillips. Both vehicles continued off the northeast corner of the intersection coming to rest on their wheels. The truck received what was reported as moderate damage, with the Phillips vehicle reported as a total loss.

Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:40, by Grundy County Coroner DeWayne Slater, the body was transported to Slater Funeral Home.

The driver of the Peterbilt truck, Timothy Deeds received what were reported as minor injuries, and, was transported by private vehicle to Wright Memorial Hospital.

The patrol reports no occupants of the vehicles were wearing safety devices.

The accident was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Trenton Police Department.
