Sports : Meadville Douses The Dragons, Readies For State Quarterfinals

The Meadville Eagles, just days after surviving a tough Class 1, District 11 tournament in Galt, rolled to a 68-25 victory over Tina-Avalon in the Class 1 sectional round on Tuesday night at Chillicothe High School.

The Eagles dominated throughout, moving to a 25-9 lead after the first quarter, 43-17 at halftime, and 62-23 after the third. Logan Newlin led Meadville with 13 points, with Cade Shiflett scoring 12, and TJ Schmitz, Dalton Palmer, and Kolton Freisner all contributing 11. The win improves Meadville's season record to 23-3. Tina-Avalon, the District 12 champion, was paced by 10 points from Zane Kinsella.

Meadville, on Saturday afternoon at 2:45, will take on Community High School in a Class 1 state quarterfinal at Pershing Arena in Kirksville. Community advanced with a 51-45 victory over the Marion County Mustangs. The winner advances to the Class 1 "Show-Me Showdown" next weekend at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
