Sports : East Buchanan Drills Princeton, Ending Tigers District Run

The Princeton Tigers went into Thursday night's Class 2, District 16 boy's semifinal game at Gower with high hopes of an upset, but the host East Buchanan Bulldogs proved to be too strong in a 71-33 win, ending the Tigers season at 16-11.

In a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3, the Buldogs moved out quickly on Princeton, leading 21-3 after the first quarter, and 46-7 at halftime. Johnson led the Bulldogs with 14 points, with Kilgore adding 12. Princeton's leading scorers were Brant Faulkner and Hunter Boxley, both with eight points.

East Buchanan went on to defeat the second-seeded Gallatin Bulldogs in Saturday's district title game, 41-37, ending Gallatin's season at 20-7. Chris Cameron led Gallatin with 17 points. Kilgore led East Buchanan with 19. The Bulldogs advance to the Class 2 sectionals, playing District 15 champion West Platte on Wednesday night at 7:45. Gallatin's final victory of the season came in the semifinals on Thursday night, 63-40 over GRC rival and defending district champion Albany.

The game between East Buchanan and West Platte on Wednesday night will be played at Staley High School in North Kansas City. West Platte tipped Mid-Buchanan in the District 15 title game at Faucett, 62-60. The Blue Jays move into the playoffs with a record of 26-1.
