In a recent session of the Associate Division of Grundy County Circuit Court, cases heard involved probation violation, traffic charges and a case of assault.

41 year old Patrick Stephens of Galt pleaded guilty to multiple traffic charges. He's required to pay $1,025 in fines, court costs, and contributions by December 23rd. $600 of that amount goes to the Grundy County Law Enforcement fund as contributions. The rest is fines and court costs. Imposition of sentences was suspended on 2 of the charges and Stephens was put on probation for 1 year. Plea agreements were involved in those 2 cases in which probation was given.

Stephens also admitted violating a probation. That probation was continued 1 year. Stephens was charged with 2 counts of failure to register a vehicle/trailer with the Department of Revenue, and 1 count each of failure to display valid plates on a vehicle/trailer, operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license---2nd offense, and authorizing another person to operate a vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. Authorities said the incidents were in June and August of last year.

Two other charges against Stephens were dismissed by the prosecution. They had accused him of misdemeanor driving while his license was suspended in June of last year and misdemeanor driving while his license was revoked in August of last year.

Twenty three year old Brandon Bouzek of Trenton pleaded to a reduced charge of misdemeanor 3rd degree assault. Imposition of a sentence was suspended and Bouzek was put on probation for 2 years. He's required to pay restitution and fees to the Prosecuting Attorney's office totaling $2175, pay court costs of $116, and make a $300 contribution to the Grundy County Law Enforcement fund. The charge was reduced from felony 2nd degree assault to misdemeanor 3rd degree assault. A plea agreement was involved.
