Sports : Strong Fourth Quarter Pushes Princeton To District Semifinals

Up by one point heading into a pivotal fourth quarter, the Princeton Tigers outscored the rival South Harrison Bulldogs by a 20-13 count over the final eight minutes to advance to the Class 2, District 16 boy's semifinals at East Buchanan High School in Gower.

The game was a see-saw affair, with the Tigers holding leads to 17-12 after one quarter, 32-29 at the half, and 43-42 at the end of three. Brant Faulkner led the now 16-10 Tigers with a 25 point night, with Stephan Elliott adding 14, and Justin Hamilton 13. For South Harrison's Bulldogs, Corby Clark had 15 points and Darin Williams 10.

Princeton advances, as the #4 seed, to play the top-seeded East Buchanan Bulldogs on Thursday night at 6 o'clock, with the game planned for broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. East Buchanan had little trouble with St. Joseph Christian on Tuesday night, winning 67-37, as Dillon Liechti had 15 points, Brent Schultz 14, and Eddie Kilgore 10.

The Gallatin Bulldogs moved into the Class 2, District 16 boy's semifinals with a dominating 65-32 win over the Tarkio Indians. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 31-7 lead after one quarter and cruised through the final three quarters. Chris Cameron led Gallatin with 20 points, with Jacob Boyd tossing in 14, and Dane Brammer 10. Calvin Joesting had 13 points for Tarkio.

Gallatin's opponent in the semifinals, at 7:30 on Thursday night, will be the defending district champion Albany Warriors. Albany, the #3 seed, downed Maysville by a quarterfinal score of 55-48. Noah Wilmes paced the Warriors attack with 17 points. Andrew Crawford had 24 points for the Wolverines.
