The Lady Pirate victory gives NCMC a final regular season record at 14-12, and more importantly, at 7-1, gives North Central the coveted #1 seed for the Region 16 tournament to be hosted by State Fair Community College in Sedalia on Saturday, March 1st, and Sunday, March 2nd.

On Tuesday night, Wentworth (#4 seed) will host Penn Valley (#5 seed). The winner advances to play NCMC on Saturday at 2 o'clock. Cottey College and St. Louis Community College will play in a 4 o'clock semifinal. The winners play for the Region 16 championship on Sunday at 3 o'clock.

In last Saturday's win, North Central was paced by yet another strong performance by freshman center Kayla Oetterer, with 28 points. Lexi Hope had 24 points in a sizzling shooting display, with Sydnee Rounkles contributing 20 points, and Samone Redditt 10 in the win. For the Red Dragons from Wentworth, Shakorya Brower had 24 points, Ashlee Cole 17, Markeisha Corpening 11, Kayla Thompson 10, and Victoria Estreich 10 points.

The North Central Missouri College men clinched the #3 seed for this weekend's Region 16 tournament, downing Wentworth by a final score of 86-75. That game will be played at Wentworth's campus in Lexington, with #1 seed Penn Valley battling Wentworth at 5 o'clock. The winners meet for the Region 16 men's championship on Saturday afternoon.

Xavier Newson led North Central in Saturday's victory with 22 points, with Tyrell Thirkield adding 19, Justin Seamon 12, and Jory Woodson 11 points. The Red Dragons had 21 points from Dillon Smith, and 10 points each from Bradley Reed, Bryant Gaines, and Jared Pearson.
