The Trenton High School basketball teams used a pair of second-half rallies to overtake, and beat, rival Penney in Senior Night games broadcast Thursday night on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed the Lady Hornets by six points with six minutes remaining, but outscored Hamilton by 15 points down the stretch, surging to a 46-37 win and ending the regular season with a record of 18-7. Trenton took the lead on a three-point shot by McKinley Hurley within the final two minutes of regulation. Tom Johnson had the play-by-play call:

Hurley led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points, with Cassidy Cotton adding 12 (on four made three-point shots). Morgan Prather led the Lady Hornets with 14 points, with Molly Ward adding 11 (including three made three-point shots).
The two teams will rematch in a district quarterfinal contest on Monday night at 9 o'clock from Lathrop High School (on KTTN FM 92.3). Trenton is the #4 seed and Hamilton the #5 seed in Class 3, District 16. Here is Trenton head coach Brian Upton:

The Trenton boys struggled early against the visiting Hornets, and found themselves down by 11 points early in the third quarter. However, a 14-0 surge by the Bulldogs gave THS the lead, and Trenton held on over the fourth quarter for a 62-56 win.
Trenton already had scored four consecutive points midway through the third quarter, when senior forward Wilson Utley brought the Bulldogs right back onto the Hornet's heels:

Chris Flowers led the Bulldogs with 17 points, with Cree Mullenix putting in 16, Wilson Utley 12, and Colton Neff 11. Trenton, in next week's district quarterfinal round, will battle the Plattsburg Tigers at 6 o'clock on Tuesday night from Lathrop High School. The game will be broadcast LIVE on Hot Country Z 101.7.
Penney had 18 points from Jaran Richman and 16 from Kolby Ford. The Hornets will play Bishop LeBlond on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 at Lathrop. The Hornets are the #6 seed in the district tournament. Trenton owns the #2 seed. Lawson is seeded #1.
