Making blankets as a community service project was one of the workshops held at the Regional 4-H Energizer of Saturday, Jan 25 at the Hamilton Elementary school.

Twenty 4-H members and ten adult volunteers completed the blankets that had been prepared by 4-H volunteers. Materials for the project were purchased through a Kemper/Pioneer Grant at the Missouri 4-H Foundation. Each blanket was identified with a label saying 4-H members made the blankets. The blankets were distributed to County Sheriff Departments, care centers, homeless shelters and emergency assistance centers for women and children throughout the region.

The blanket community service project was just one of 31 workshops held at the NW Regional Energizer led by 49 workshop facilitators.

236 youth from across NW Missouri attended the day long session and learned leadership skills, project skills and teambuilding – all while meeting new friends through interpersonal relationships. For more information about 4-H and how you can join, volunteer or get involved, contact your local University of Missouri Extension office.
