The Trenton Park Board met briefly yesterday and approved lettering and a contractor for an Ebbe Sports Complex sign.Click to see original Image in a new window

The lettering is to be black in color. Rodderick Sign Company of St. Joseph is to do work at a cost of $1265.

Park Superintendent, Jason Shuler, estimated the cost to renovate restrooms at the Rock Barn would be around $6,000. The restrooms project was tabled until more Park Board members can view the condition of the restrooms. It's anticipated the renovations would not occur before this fall or next winter. That's because Shuler said the Park Department needs to focus on continuing with renovations to the Johnson Ballfield when the weather and ground conditions allow. In addition, Park Board member, Duane Helmandollar, noted a waterline in the Rock Barn bathroom area needs to be re-routed. The Park Board, last month, approved an expenditure, not to exceed $1500 to re-route the waterline to prevent it from freezing if the building is not heated enough.

Superintendent Shuler is to check on what the cost would be to have underground irrigation at Johnson Ballfield. This comes after Shuler and Assistant Park Superintendent, Don Kennedy, attended a free landscaping seminar which included information regarding above and below-ground irrigation systems. The underground system offers savings estimated at more than 50% on water and parts---but it's not been determined what the cost would be to install an underground system for Johnson Field.

The Johnson Field renovations still have more grading to do before the irrigation work takes place. Grass is to be seeded following the installation of the irrigation system.

Shuler and Kennedy are to receive pool operators training at Kansas City. It's for Shuler to be re-certified and Kennedy to receive his certification.
