Newtown-Harris School Guidance Counselor, Linda Tucker, is retiring at the end of this academic year. Mrs. Tucker has been an educator 41 years, 27 of them at Newtown-Harris.

In other news from the Newtown-Harris School District, the Board of Education has extended the contract of Principal Misty Foster for another year.

Make-up dates at Newtown-Harris for time missed from inclement weather are April 21st, May 23rd, and May 27th.

Students at Newtown-Harris have raised more than $1400 for Breast Cancer Awareness. Therefore, Superintendent Bryan Copple will spend a day on the elementary roof this spring, and Principal (Misty) Foster will spend a night on the roof---weather permitting.

Dr. Copple will receive a District Administrator of the Year award from the Missouri Association of Rural Education. It will be presented at the Association's annual meeting at the Lake of the Ozarks February 21st.

The Newtown-Harris Board of Education has approved a trip by the Health Occupations Students of America chapter to attend a state contest at Union. The board also approved the use of a bus for the trip. 14 Newtown-Harris students are to compete for a chance to advance to the national competition at Orlando, Florida.

A Backpack Buddy program begins this month at Newtown-Harris.

The Annual Newtown-Harris Elementary School Basketball Tournament is March 10th through 12th.
