The Milan girls and boys basketball teams, in games played Friday night at Knox County High School in Edina, fell short against the Eagles, dropping Tri-Rivers Conference games on back-to-back nights.
The Lady 'Cats struggled offensively throughout their game, losing 58-21. Lauren Dale led Knox County with 16 points while freshman Samantha DeRyke came off the bench to lead Milan with eight points.
The boys game was much closer, but a late first-half surge by Knox County proved to be too much for the Wildcats to overcome, with the Eagles holding a double-digit lead throughout the second half and winning 69-53. The Wildcats struggled to slow down Knox County's Ryan Strange, who sizzled the Edina nets to the tune of 36 points. Royce Poore added 19, as the Eagles improve to 11-9 overall, and 5-2 in conference play (tied with North Shelby for second place). Milan, now 5-13 on the season, and 2-5 (good for fifth place) in Tri-Rivers play, was led by 17 points from Wyatt Bohle, 14 from Holden Stallbaumer, and 10 points from Tristan Fowler.
Friday night's games were broadcast LIVE on KTTN FM 92.3 and over the worldwide web at kttn.com.
The Milan girls and boys will host the North Mercer Cardinals on Monday night, and travel to Newtown-Harris to play the Tigers on Tuesday night.
