Due to the impending snowstorm expected Tuesday, the Chillicothe Street Department will be issuing the Emergency Snow Ordinance starting at 6 am Tuesday.
Residents of Chillicothe need to have all cars removed from Emergency Snow Routes which are posted with signs.
This is to better allow for crews to clear snow from the streets.
Persons with cars remaining on the Emergency Snow Routes at Chillicothe after 6 am Tuesday will be asked by police to move them.
If persons can’t be reached, the vehicles are to be towed.
Street Commissioner Barry Arthur says it would also be helpful for motorists not on the emergency snow routes at Chillicothe to remove their vehicles off all other City streets to assist the Street Department in clearing snow more effectively. It's difficult, he said, to maneuver a snowplow truck around parked cars.
Arthur also is asking when shoveling snow out of driveways, throw the snow to the right side of the driveway to keep the plows from throwing the snow back into the drive you just cleaned. If you shovel off for a two foot distance from the street, Arthur said it will lessen the
amount of snow that ends back up in a driveway when crews are widening out the path for snow on the streets of Chillicothe.
