January 29 Deputy/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis filed a report with our office regarding an incident at the Chillicothe Middle School. A juvenile student was receiving harassing text messages. Deputy Sheriff/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis recently completed an investigation at the Chillicothe Middle School where a juvenile student allegedly drew a picture of one student shooting another student and both pictures were named. School Officials, Juvenile Authorities, and Parent(s) were notified and the author of the drawing reported they were not intending anything or upset with the other student, but rather upset as he/she could not do something they wanted after school. The school is taking administrative action and the juvenile office is handling any prosecution. There is not any evidence or additional information to support any danger to any student.

The LCSO currently has 36 detainees being held in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail, 9 of which are female detainees.

The DDCRJ staff recently notified this office they learned a detainee had secreted drugs inside their body and smuggled controlled substance into the jail where one or more detainees may have ingested the controlled substance. Additional investigation has continued and the prosecuting attorney is being informed of the incident. Potential additional charges in Daviess County may be filed. (Note this is nothing that every jail and prison in the United States battles on a daily basis.)
