Sports : KC Royals Announce 2014 Promotions and Special Events

As the 2014 Kansas City Royals campaign approaches, the club has announced its promotions and special events calendar for the upcoming season.

This year’s schedule features great giveaways, the return of fan favorites and the introduction of special offers, which allow fans to experience all the ballpark’s offerings at exceptional values.

Highlights from the 2014 lineup of giveaways, events, and ticket offerings are listed below. In addition, the complete giveaways and special events schedule is attached and can be found at The first 6,000 guests to enter Royals FanFest each day at Bartle Hall (January 31 and February 1) will receive a complimentary promotional calendar.

All giveaways are for the first 10,000 fans unless otherwise noted

Rawlings Gold Glove T-Shirt: An exclusive t-shirt commemorating the three 2013 Royals Rawlings Gold Glove winners, Alex Gordon, Salvador Perez and Eric Hosmer, will be given out Saturday, May 3 vs. the Detroit Tigers.

Monarchs Fedora: Join the Royals in celebrating Salute to the Negro Leagues Day and the new Dressed to the Nines event on Sunday, May 18 vs. the Baltimore Orioles. Fans can pick up a Monarchs fedora to complete their look.

Camouflage Jersey: During the Memorial Day celebration on May 26 against the Houston Astros, the team will hold the Royals Armed Forces Day, presented by Budweiser, and the first 10,000 fans through the gates will get a camouflage jersey, courtesy of Fox Sports Kansas City.

Ladies Cowboy Hat: The first 10,000 ladies who come to Girls Night Out, presented by Kansas City Area Chevy Dealers, on Friday, June 27 vs. the Los Angeles Angels, will get a special Ladies Cowboy Hat, courtesy of Kansas City Area Chevy Dealers.

James Shields Bobblehead: Saturday, June 28 vs. the Los Angeles Angels will see the first of four bobbleheads of the 2014 season and will display starting pitcher James Shields. Presented by Hy-Vee & Farmland.

Salvador Perez Bobblehead: Gold Glove Winner and All-Star catcher Salvador Perez will be the second bobblehead of the season and will be given out to the first 10,000 fans on Saturday, July 12 vs. the Detroit Tigers. Presented by Hy-Vee & Farmland.

Alex Gordon Bobblehead: The third bobblehead will feature three-time Gold Glove winner Alex Gordon and will be given out on Sunday, August 10 vs. the San Francisco Giants. Presented by Pepsi.

Royals Green Cup Set: Whether they’re Irish by blood or Irish by heart, fans can come out to The K and get a special set of green cups in conjunction with Irish Heritage Night on Wednesday, August 27 vs. the Minnesota Twins.

Eco-Friendly Cap: On Friday, August 29 vs. the Cleveland Indians, an eco-friendly Royals baseball cap made up of 100% recycled materials will be given out to fans. Presented by Grundfos.

Mr. Royal Bobblehead: Fans can join the Royals in saluting the vintage Royals character on Retro Night, Saturday, August 30 vs. the Cleveland Indians and pick up the final bobblehead of the season, Mr. Royal.

Royals Scarf: To thank fans for being the best in the league, fans can pick up a Royals Scarf as a part of Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, September 20 vs. the Detroit Tigers, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.


Salute to the Negro Leagues: Our annual recognition of the Negro Leagues returns on Sunday, May 18 vs. the Baltimore Orioles, with both the Royals and Orioles wearing replica uniforms from the 1920’s. In addition, we encourage all fans to come Dressed to the Nines and, to compliment the look, the first 10,000 fans will receive a Monarchs fedora.

Celebrity Classic Game: Big Slick is back this year for a pre-game sponge ball tournament at the Little K on Friday, June 20 vs. Seattle Mariners. Scheduled to make return appearances are Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Rob Riggle, and many of their celebrity friends. Come enjoy a night of fun as Hollywood invades The K!

Girls Night Out: Friday, June 27 vs. the Los Angeles Angels. Presented by Kansas City Area Chevy Dealers. Bring your girlfriends out for a night of fun and entertainment! The Outfield Experience will feature pre-game booths and activities catered for women of all ages. The night benefits the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign and fans who purchase the VIP Girls Night Out ticket package will receive a canvas tote bag. In addition, the first 10,000 ladies through the gates will receive a ladies Cowboy hat, courtesy of Kansas City Area Chevy Dealers.

University Days: Presented by Fox Sports Kansas City & Rally House. Back this year, the Royals will feature 4 separate game dates dedicated to area colleges. A customized Royals hat reflecting each university will be given away to fans who purchase that day’s specific school ticket.

K-State Day – Sunday, June 29 vs. Los Angeles Angels
Mizzou Night – Friday, July 25 vs. Cleveland Indians
Huskers Night – Saturday, August 9 vs. San Francisco Giants
KU Day – Sunday, August 31 vs. Cleveland Indians

KidsFest: The Royals celebrate young baseball fans with a special event dedicated to kids on Sunday, July 13 vs. the Detroit Tigers! With pre-game activities, entertainment, and a lot of fun in the Outfield Experience, kids will rule the day. Plus, the first 5,000 kids 14 and under will receive a Royals Coloring Book.

Irish Heritage Night: New for 2014, the Royals will highlight various Irish-themed entertainment before the game on Wednesday, August 27 vs. the Minnesota Twins. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Royals Green Cup Set.

Retro Night: The Royals will turn back the clock to feature a nostalgic ballpark experience and live organ during the game on Saturday, August 30 vs. the Cleveland Indians. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Mr. Royal Bobblehead.

Fan Appreciation Night: Presented by Sprint. The Royals salute all fans for their support throughout the season during this annual tradition on Saturday, September 20 vs. the Detroit Tigers. The game will feature prizes and activities throughout the night, and the first 10,000 fans will receive a Royals Scarf, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.


Value Monday presented by Hy-Vee: Every Monday home game fans can get an $8 Hy-Vee Infield or Hy-Vee Outfield ticket, courtesy of Hy-Vee. (subject to availability)

T-Shirt Tuesdays: A fan favorite, this season’s series will include 6 unique designs! Fans have opportunities to get them on May 13, May 27, June 10, June 24, July 29, and August 12.

Student Night/Local Music Showcases/Local Music Showcase: Select Outfield Box and Hy-Vee Infield tickets are available at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office for only $8 on Wednesday home games (excluding May 14 & June 4)! High school and college students with a valid ID or youth 14 years of age and under who are with an adult are able to purchase tickets. In addition, all Student Night/Local Music Showcases include pre-game food and beverage specials at the Crown Classic concession area, as well as a pre-game concert at the Outfield Experience stage by one of KC’s best local acts, presented by INK Magazine. Seating is subject to availability.

GordoNation: Cheer on Rawlings Gold Glove winner Alex Gordon in his special fan section! Each Thursday home game (excluding June 5), fans can purchase a $30 ticket that includes a special edition “GordoNation” t-shirt and seat in select field box or field plaza sections in left field.

Buck Nights: One of our most popular events at the stadium, Buck Night returns for eight select Friday dates throughout the season. On these nights, fans can purchase hot dogs, small soda products, and peanuts for just $1 each. Game Dates include May 2, May 16, June 20, June 27, July 11, July 25, August 29, and September 19.

Summer Fireworks: Following Friday night home games during May through August, fans are invited to stay seated and watch a spectacular fireworks show, presented by Hy-Vee/Pepsi.

Family FunDay Sundays: Every Sunday home game will feature interactive kids entertainment by School of Rock, face painters and caricature or balloon artists in the Outfield Experience. The Royals will also offer a pre-game autograph opportunity with select players each Family FunDay Sunday, subject to availability. In addition, all fans ages 14 and under can run the bases after the game for the Sunday Fun Run (conditions permitting). Fans can purchase four tickets in the Hy-Vee Infield with $10 in loaded value per ticket to use for concessions and merchandise, as well as a Play Pass for unlimited activities in the Outfield Experience, all for just $80.

Sluggerrr’s Blue Crew Kids Club: Back for 2014, kids can again join Sluggerrr’s Blue Crew Kids Club, courtesy of the Learning Quest 529 Education Savings Program. Each package includes a Royals baseball t-shirt, Royals baseball cap, membership card and lanyard, car magnet, VIP access for the Fun Run, 2 Royals game ticket vouchers, complimentary vouchers for the games in the Outfield Experience, one free child’s admission for a ballpark tour and special offers from Royals partners all for just $25. Sonic Slam Seats: When a Royals player hits a home run that lands in the Sonic Slam Seats located in left-center field, ALL fans win a free medium Sonic Slush by redeeming their ticket stub at participating Sonic locations in Kansas City and St. Joseph by midnight the following day! Fans sitting in the Sonic Slam Seats will also win a $5 My Sonic Card.

Royals Charities 50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson: Royals Charities is excited to announce the popular 50/50 Raffle fundraiser will be returning throughout every Royals home game this season. Staff will sell raffle tickets until the end of the sixth inning. One winning ticket will be selected with the winner taking home half of the evening's net proceeds. The other half will be donated to Royals Charities.

All You Can Eat Seats: For eight select Thursday home games, fans can purchase All You Can Eat Seats located in the Loge Level (Sections 318-325) which include unlimited ballpark fare. All the hot dogs, nachos, peanuts, pretzels, and soda/water you can eat for one low price! Individual and group discount tickets available.
