Marty Bonnett is one of the persons coaching Disabled Athletes with Grundy Support—commonly called the DAWGS. He was among several persons recognized for their outstanding contributions to Special Olympics Missouri – North Area at the 2014 S-O-M-O Annual Awards Luncheon in Branson.

Each year, Special Olympics Missouri salutes those who have made significant contributions to the Special Olympics movement. Each area nominee is submitted for statewide recognition.

Overall winners were also announced at the event.
Marty Bonnett has coached for Special Olympics Missouri for more than six years. He coaches six different sports. His love for Special Olympics digs a little deeper than most because of his own daughter, Alanta, has participated for seven years. Marty has not only been a life coach for Alanta, but also a role model for all athletes in the sports he coaches.

When Marty isn’t escorting athletes to numerous practices and tournaments, he is involved in fundraising for the DAWGS agency. When asked why he coaches, he was quoted as saying he does it for the enjoyment of the kids with the DAWGS; and to see the smiles on their faces.
