Sports : South Harrison, Gallatin Claim GRC Tuesday Night Sweeps

The South Harrison Bulldogs and Gallatin Bulldogs won girls and boys basketball games in Grand River Conference play last night, with the Bethany teams traveling to Princeton, and Gallatin taking on Polo.

The South Harrison Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 52-27 win over Princeton, while the South Harrison boys got a much stiffer challenge, but survived in a 54-50 overtime final. Corby Clark led South Harrison with 20 points, while Brant Faulkner scored 19 points and Stephan Elliott 14 for the Tigers. Faulkner scored his 1000th career point early in the first quarter. He came into the contest with 999 tallies over 2 1/2 seasons. For the Princeton girls, Fallon Priest had 10 points, with Kaylee Smith scoring 16 to lead South Harrison.

Gallatin had an easier-than-anticipated time with the Polo Panthers, with the Gallatin boys trouncing the Panthers, 66-25. Chris Cameron paced Gallatin with 16 points while Jacob Boyd added 10. The Bulldogs improve to 11-4 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs downed visiting Polo by a score of 71-39, with Bailey Maxwell scoring 17 points, Sara Lin 14, with Kaitlyn Hefley and Kailey Salmon each scoring 11 for Gallatin. Danielle Allen had 13 points and Sidney Copeland 11 for Polo.
