Wages have been set for two employees of the city of Laredo.

At a meeting of the Laredo Board of Aldermen, late last week, an ordinance was approved setting the salary of city clerk Lisa McCullough at 12 dollars per hour retroactive to the 1st of January.

Another ordinance was adopted setting the salary of the new maintenance employee, Jessie Ballman, at 12 dollars per month.

Training is underway for the next city clerk at Laredo, Ashley Boren, whose per hour salary will be established by an ordinance during a February 4th meeting.

Other proposed ordinances were tabled until a future meeting.

There are three candidates for city offices subject to the April 8th election.

Two of them are running for Mayor of Laredo. Incumbent Rebecca Burns is being challenged by Carol Holloway. Filing for one of the alderman positions is Cassie Bethards. No one has filed for the other alderman position. The filing deadline is Tuesday afternoon. Residents interested in a city office can file during established office hours of 11 o'clock to 3 o'clock at the Laredo city hall.
