Sports : Mercer Girls, Meadville Boys Grab #1 Seeds At Meadville Hoops Tournament

The unbeaten Mercer Lady Cardinals and once-beaten Meadville Eagles have the #1 seeds for the Meadville Invitational Basketball Tournament, running from January 27th to February 1st at Meadville High School.

The tournament will open with quarterfinal games on Monday, January 27th, with the #1 seeded Mercer girls taking on Northwestern (Mendon) at 4:30, followed by the #5 seeded Mercer boys playing Tina-Avalon at 5:45. The evening session will feature the #4 seed Tina-Avalon girls against Linn County at 7 o'clock, and the #1 seeded Meadville boys against Linn County at 8:15.

Quarterfinal games on Tuesday, January 28th will be the #2 seeded Meadville Lady Eagles against Grundy R-5 at 4:30, the #3 seeded Grundy R-5 boys against Hale at 5:45, the #3 seeded Bucklin/Macon County girls battling Hale at 7 o'clock, and the #2 seeded Bucklin/Macon County boys taking on Northwestern (Mendon) at 8:15.

Semifinal games will be played the nights of January 29th and 30th (two consolation and two championship semifinals both nights), with the consolation finals and girls third place game on January 31st, and the boys third place (2:30) and both championship games (4:00 and 5:30) to be played on Saturday, February 1st.
