The Cameron Lady Dragons dominated Thursday night's semifinal game against Maysville, winning 61-25, and pushing the defending Class 3 runner-up into Saturday night's championship game against Lathrop.
Playing in the "Bill Burns Classic" at Lathrop High School, Cameron had 20 points from forward Ashli Lykins, with Melia Richardson adding 12. The Lady Dragons championship opponent, the host Lathrop Lady Mules, had to grind out a hard-fought 58-54 win over the Polo Lady Panthers. Isabel Maddick had 19 points, with Katie Cordray chipping in 15 for LHS, while Adriana Segar had 19 points, Sidney Copeland 19, and Danielle Allen 11 for Polo. The Polo girls play Maysville for third place on Friday night at 8 o'clock. Cameron and Lathrop meet in the girl's championship game on Saturday night at 6:30. The East Buchanan girls, after going 0-2 in the tournament, will get a game against the Benton JV on Friday night at 5 o'clock.
The final three games of the boys tournament at Lathrop are set, with Holden advancing through pool play with wins over Maysville and Van Horn. Van Horn beat Maysville on Monday night, meaning that Maysville drops to the consolation final against Northland, on Friday night at 6:30. East Buchanan, in a Thursday night semifinal, ripped Lathrop by the final score of 73-40, pushing the Bulldogs into Saturday night's championship game with Holden at 8 'clock. Lathrop and Van Horn meet in the boy's third place game on Saturday night at 5 o'clock.
In East Buchanan's semifinal win over Lathrop, the Bulldogs had balanced scoring, with Brent Schultz tallying 18 points, Eddie Kilgore 12, and Riley Cobb 12. For Lathrop, Conner Vanderkooi had 15 points, with Deryk Thompson contributing 10.
