Sports : Winston Redbirds To Play For Osborn Tournament Titles

The Winston High School girls and boys basketball teams passed semifinal tests on Thursday night, and will play for championships on Saturday night at the Osborn Invitational Basketball Tournament.

The Winston boys improved their record to 12-2 with a 52-36 win over Osborn. Jordan Leonard scored 17 points for the Redbirds while Chevy Calhoon had 16. Daniel Bell led Osborn with 14 points. The Union Star Trojans will be Saturday night's opponent (at 7:30) for Winston, after a 52-45 win over Stewartsville. Stewartsville plays Osborn in the boy's third place game on Friday night at 9 o'clock.

The Winston Lady Redbirds moved into an all HDC Conference championship game with a 53-33 win over the #1 seed from DeKalb. Winston will play Pattonsburg for the title on Saturday night at 6 o'clock. The Lady Panthers advanced with a 51-46 win over the South Holt Lady Knights. DeKalb and South Holt will play in the girl's third place game on Friday night at 7:30.

Friday night's schedule from Osborn High School begins with the consolation finals, as the Stewartsville girls play Osborn at 4:30, and the DeKalb boys take on South Holt at 6 o'clock.
