Sports : PC Midgets Rally To Beat Princeton

The Putnam County Midgets, in a boy's semifinal game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3, used a fourth-quarter surge to overtake the Princeton Tigers and win 61-55 in the South Harrison Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Riley Wood controlled the paint for Putnam County with 21 points, with Cody Quint adding 18. The Midgets, with the victory, advance to the South Harrison Tournament championship game, and the meeting with the East Harrison Bobcats, on Saturday night at 7:30. East Harrison, in Thursday night's semifinal round, beat South Harrison by a score of 63-54. In Thursday night's semifinal loss, the Princeton Tigers were paced by 26 points from Brant Faulkner, 11 from Jordan Adams, and 10 points from Justin Hamilton. Princeton drops into the third place game, and a meeting with South Harrison on Saturday afternoon at 4:30.

The girl's semifinals from Bethany saw the top-seeded South Harrison Lady Bulldogs cruise to a 60-32 win over Princeton. For the Bethany girls, Kelsey Jennings had 17 points, Kaylee Smith 16, and Ciara Jennings 10. Paige Phillips had 16 points for Princeton.

The #3 seed Plattsburg Lady Tigers sprung a mild-upset of #2 seed North Harrison, winning 41-39. The Lady Tigers and Lady Bulldogs battle for the South Harrison girls championship on Saturday night at 6 o'clock, with Princeton's Lady Tigers playing North Harrison for third place on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. South Harrison, in a Grand River Conference doubleheader will play AT Princeton on Tuesday night (January 21st).

Friday night's schedule from the South Harrison Tournament will have the seventh place games, with the Northeast Nodaway girls playing the South Harrison JV at 4:30, and the Plattsburg boys dueling with North Harrison at 5:50. The consolation championships follow, with the East Harrison girls against Putnam County at 7:10, and the Northeast Nodaway boys against the East Buchanan JV at 8:30.
