Sports : Late-Game Shot Gives Maysville GRC Sweep Of Princeton

Maysville's Andrew Crawford hit a three-foot jump hook with eight seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, giving the Wolverines the winning points in a 58-56 final against visiting Princeton.

The game was broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com, and it saw a wild back-and-forth affair that had Maysville lead 21-15 after one quarter, Princeton lead at halftime 35-30, and Maysville lead after three quarters, 46-42. Princeton had a late chance to win the game, but a three-point attempt cracked off the rim, with the teams tussling for the rebound as time expired.

Barry Griffith led Maysville with 21 points, with Crawford adding 14, and Matt White 10 points. Princeton had 16 points from Brant Faulkner, 15 from Justin Hamilton, and 12 points from Stephan Elliott.

The Maysville girls cruised to victory against Princeton in the opener, by a final score of 54-21. Rachel Boucher led the Lady Wolverines with 18 points, while Bailey Frasher and Danielle Boucher both had 11 points. MHS is now 7-4 on the season. Princeton, in falling to 4-5, had 14 points from Paige Phillips.

Both schools will be in tournaments this week, with Princeton in the South Harrison Tournament, and Maysville in the "Bill Burns Classic" at Lathrop High School.
