Sports : Gallatin Evens The Score, Sweeping Visiting Trenton

On December 7th, the Trenton Bulldogs went to Gallatin and swept the home team in the championship games of the Gallatin Tournament. On Thursday night, the tables turned with the Gallatin squads both earning their sixth victories of the season.

In the opener, the Trenton girls, in search of their third victory in a row, ran into a cold shooting night, and Gallatin took advantage with a 45-31 win. Kaitlyn Hefley led a balanced Gallatin scoring effort with 12 points, while Sara Lin contributed 11. For Trenton, junior guard McKinley Hurley had 13 points. Both teams are now 6-2 on the season. The Trenton girls are next in action on Monday night, battling the Lafayette Irish in NCMC's Holiday Hoops event at the Ketcham Community Center. The game, at 8 o'clock, will be broadcast on KTTN-FM 92.3.

The Trenton boys fell to Gallatin by a final score of 54-51, breaking the Bulldogs six-game winning streak. Gallatin, now 6-2, was led by Chris Cameron and Grant Simmons, each with 12 points, Harris Cameron with 11 points, and Jacob Boyd with 10. Trenton, also 6-2, was paced by the senior duo of Chase Tolson (21 points) and Chris Kurtz (19 points), but struggled to find consistent offense from its underclassmen.

Trenton's scheduled games against Lathrop on Saturday night (at NCMC Holiday Hoops) have been postponed until Saturday, January 4th. The Trenton boys are next in action on Saturday, December 28, taking on Warrenton at 12:30 PM at NCMC Holiday Hoops at the Ketcham Community Center.

The Trenton Middle School girls, behind 12 points from Ashton Whitaker and 10 points from Salem Croy, beat Marceline by a final score of 41-9.
