The North Central Missouri College women's basketball team will hit the Christmas break with a seven-game losing streak, after losing back-to-back games in south Florida over the past weekend.
On Friday night, North Central lost to Miami-Dade College by a final score of 93-67. The host Lady Sharks had four players in double figures, with Jordyn Bond scoring 24 points, Vernessa Hinnant and Alexis Ungro 20 points each, and Channel Davis with 17. Individual statistics were unavailable for NCMC.
On Saturday afternoon, the Lady Pirates had an opportunity to end their losing streak, but let a double-digit halftime lead slip away in losing 73-68 to the Broward College Seahawks. The Lady Pirates led 35-24 at the half, but were outscored 49-33 in the second half, dropping their season record to 4-8.
Both North Central teams will open 2014 with a flurry of games at the Ketcham Community Center. On Monday, January 6th, North Central hosts Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College. On Wednesday, January 8th, Penn Valley visits North Central in the Region XVI openers for both Pirate teams. On Saturday, January 11th, North Central hosts John Wood (Illinois) Community College in doubleheader action.
