The Princeton Lady Tigers beat Worth County in the consolation final at the Albany Tournament on Friday night, 45-30.
Trinity Kile led Princeton with 13 points, with Paige Philips adding 12. Rebecca Phillips had six points, Maddie Enright four, Rachelle Parks four, Jaycee Smith four, and Fallon Priest two points. The victory is Princeton's first of the season. The Lady Tigers are now 2-2, having won two in a row at the Albany Tournament after losses against North Harrison and Stanberry to open the season.
The Princeton boys, in Saturday night's third place game, downed Polo by a final score of 76-54. Brant Faulkner and Stephan Elliiott both scored 25 points for Princeton, now 3-1 on the season. Princeton lost in Thursday night's semifinals to Stanberry.
The Princeton teams travel to Mercer to battle the Cardinals in varsity doubleheader action this Thursday (December 12th) on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. First up this week, the Lady Tigers and Tigers host the East Harrison Bobcats on Tuesday night from the PHS gym.
The South Harrison girls warmed up for Tuesday night's showdown against Trenton by winning the Albany Tournament's championship game over Polo by a score of 73-45. Senior forward Kaylee Smith continues to fill the net for the Lady Bulldogs, scoring 29 points in the win. Josie Williams had 18 points and Ciara Jennings 11. For Polo, Sidney Copeland had 14 points and Tabitha Poje 11.
The Albany boys took the championship of their own tournament, beating Stanberry on Saturday night by a score of 59-52. Drew Cottrill and Noah Wilmes both scored 19 points for the Warriors. Alex McQuinn had 18, Ryan Jensen 15, and Daniel Hailey 12 points for the Bulldogs.
King City's boys won the consolation final against South Harrison (on Friday night) by a score of 46-45. John Spiking led the Wildkats with 21 points. Darin Williams scored 18 for the Bulldogs, who went 0-3 at the Albany Tournament.
