Sports : Trenton, Gallatin Move To Gallatin Tournament Championship Games

The Trenton Bulldogs withstood a strong challenge from the Winston Redbirds on Thursday night, winning 62-44 in the Gallatin Tournament semifinals, broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

The game was tied at the end of one quarter, with Winston holding a two-point lead at the half. In the second half, the Bulldogs leaned on their superior size and strength to wear down the Redbirds, and move into Saturday's championship game against the Gallatin Bulldogs.

Chase Tolson and Chris Kurtz both scored 19 points for Trenton, with Chris Flowers coming off the bench to add 10. Trenton is now 2-1 on the season. Winston, in falling to 2-1, was paced by Chevy Calhoon and Stephen Evans, both with 13 points.

The Gallatin boys rallied in the second half for a 66-60 win over the Braymer Bobcats. Chris Cameron had a superb night for the Bulldogs, scoring 27 points in the win. Jacob Boyd added 13, with Harrison Cameron contributing 10 points. For Braymer, Logan O'Dell had 19 points, Dillon Hall 18, and Jay Miller 16.

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs were able to pull away from upset-minded Braymer and win by a score of 49-32. Trenton's girls are now 3-0 on the season. Cassidy Cotton had a strong all-around game in scoring 15 points for Trenton, while Makaila Capeder scored 14. For Braymer, Sadie Watson put in 15 points and Madison Mallory 11.

Gallatin won a girl's semifinal over Maysville, by the final score of 53-42.

Friday's schedule from Gallatin will be:

Girls 7th Place : Newtown-Harris vs. Tri-County at 4:30 PM
Boys 7th Place: Gilman City vs. Tri-County at 5:45 PM
Girls Consolation Final: Winston vs. Gilman City at 7:00 PM
Boys Consolation Final: Maysville vs. Newtown-Harris at 8:15 PM

Saturday's schedule from Gallatin will be:

Girls 3rd Place: Maysville vs. Braymer at 12:00 PM
Boys 3rd Place: Winston vs. Braymer at 1:30 PM

The championship games will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

Girls 1st Place: Gallatin vs. Trenton at 3:00 PM
Boys 1st Place: Gallatin vs. Trenton at 4:30 PM
